What’s On

We aim to continually discern what we as a community can uniquely offer in this time of crisis, and what we can do in partnership with others. We do this under the broad banner of liturgy, learning and action. Check out this page regularly to see what’s coming up in the next few months.

Liturgy. We gather for an eco-contemplative liturgy in the garden every month, offer other events and services during the Season of Creation (1st September to 4th October) and celebrate Harvest in October. Sometimes Wassail, Rogation, Lammas and other festivals bring the community together.

Learning. There’s lots more, including ways to get involved, on the Projects and Blog pages. We run regular sessions on Zoom too.

Action. Keep up to date through our campaigning pages.

Regular Ways to Get Involved

Eco-Contemplative Liturgies

Eco-Contemplative liturgies take place on the 4th Sunday of the month at 9.45am. Please join us in person in the garden at St James’s (whatever the weather!) or online via Zoom.

Gatherings are 30-40 minutes long and are led by different members of the Earth Justice team each month. Each service includes readings and prayer followed by 15 minutes of individual contemplative time in the garden, or in your own space for online participants, and a time of sharing reflections together.

Advocacy and Campaigning

Speaking out with others in the name of justice for all creation is a central tenet of St James’s mission. We commit to building partnerships and leaning deeply into solidarity with activists and truth-tellers.

In the words of Pope Francis, we need ‘a transformation of hearts and minds which both acknowledges our contribution to the social and ecological crises and commits to acting in ways that nurture communion: healing and renewing our common home.’

Check our Advocacy and campaigning page for opportunities to get involved.

Outside of London?

St James’s is a gathered community, welcoming people from across London, the UK and beyond. You can join our liturgies on Zoom and take part in campaigns, events, discussions and actions online. You are invited to participate in many of our creative community projects (especially plant-growing activities!) where you are. And maybe we can come to you for an event!

We have an active Earth Justice WhatsApp campaigns group and a regular email newsletter to keep in touch. Please get in touch to join either of these.
